As a medical school founded specifically to advance global health medicine education, the MSIH believes global health and international clinical work must be an essential foundation of an academically rigorous curriculum.  In accordance with the humanistic mission and founding spirit of Ben-Gurion University, MSIH is committed to creating an educational environment that offers a high degree of personal attention and numerous opportunities for students to help develop and implement the curriculum.

The MSIH provides students with several channels of communication with the faculty and administration and invites their participation as class representatives and as partners in on-going efforts to evaluate and strengthen the curriculum and overall educational experience. MSIH students take the Physician’s Oath at the beginning of their first year of medical school and are required to complete international health clinical days that emphasize early clinical training and the many ways in which cross-cultural communications influence the physician-patient relationship.

The MSIH recruits and admits individuals who can envision themselves working as physicians in diverse cultural contexts under demanding conditions. The MSIH urges its students to embark upon and consider their MSIH experience as a first step in a life-long journey in international health.
